Molon is seeking to fill the role of General Laborer for the upcoming season. As a General Laborer at Molon Excavating, you will work in a crew setting under the direction of a jobsite foreman to complete various tasks on site. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical labor tasks at construction sites, including cleaning and preparing sites.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment.
  • Assist with grade checking, digging trenches, compacting earth, and back-filling holes.
  • Assist with maintenance of machinery and heavy equipment as needed.
  • Take direction well from leadership on site.
  • Implement construction plans and contribute to the completion of various projects.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and the general public.
  • Follow all company, job site, DOT, OSHA, and MiOSHA safety rules.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Take initiative and anticipate tasks that need to be done.
  • Communicate effectively with the site crew, foremen, and project managers as needed.
  • Regulate traffic on job sites as needed.

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in a jobsite crew that will be responsible for completing projects in a safe and timely manner. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, and skid-steers with demonstrated skill and precision.
  • Observe and interpret hand signals, markings, and grade stakes while operating equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment on a daily basis.
  • Keep equipment clean and in proper working order.
  • Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to the foreman immediately.
  • Follow all company, job site, DOT, OSHA, and MiOSHA safety rules to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the site crew, foremen, and project managers as needed.
  • Perform a range of additional activities and tasks on job sites as necessary.
  • Assist with manual labor on the ground and operate a variety of hand and power tools.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in heavy equipment operation.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to get to work on time required.
  • Possession of a CDL license is preferred.

Primary Duties:

  • Supervise crews to ensure top-quality workmanship, efficiency, and employee satisfaction.
  • Coordinate crew activities, including scheduling tasks, job site coordination, and overseeing equipment and material deliveries.
  • Interface with on-site crews, subcontractors, inspectors, customers, project managers, and owners to resolve issues and ensure quality and safety.
  • Maintain strong communication with all stakeholders, ensuring a smooth flow of information.
  • Take initiative and anticipate project needs.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools; assist with manual labor when needed. Operate heavy equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company policies and procedures related to safety and proper reporting.
  • Document daily activities including but not limited to; job hazard forms, toolbox talks, equipment time reporting, and work orders.
  • Read and interpret jobsite blueprints with the guidance of project management.
  • Proper field maintenance of equipment and coordination with the shop manager for necessary repairs and periodic maintenance. All equipment should be kept clean and in good working order.
  • Adhere to all applicable codes and regulations.

Primary Duties

  • Identify project opportunities and complete estimates in a timely manner.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Prioritize available crews and equipment to meet customer deadlines.
  • Daily review of labor, equipment, and AP invoices applied to your job to ensure accuracy of job costing.
  • Effectively communicate with foremen and crews in the field to clearly outline expectations and establish accountability.
  • Be responsive to customer changes and accurately document adjustments in the scope of work to ensure Molon is appropriately compensated.
  • Coordinate with our finance department to ensure timely billing of completed work and payment of vendors and subcontractors.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and applicable government entities.
  • Appropriately manage your time to ensure timely communication and completion of assigned tasks both in the office and field.
  • Proactively ask for tasks during idle times and make process improvement suggestions when opportunities arise.
