The Foreman role at Molon Excavation is critical to our company. The best performing Foreman drives projects to completion on-time, on-budget and per specifications. They will ensure that the team is well trained, supplies and equipment are ready and safety is a key priority. The Foreman role must be able to handle the details of the projects from start to finish with limited direction and proper delegation. This position requires managing all aspects of the project. This position is mostly a field-based role.
Responsibilities:
Crews
- Supervise crews to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork and pride.
- Coordination of crew activities, including but not limited to: scheduling daily tasks of employees, job site coordination, deliveries of equipment and materials, Inspections and Testing.
- Work in conjunction and as a team with your crew.
- Analyze and resolve worker problems.
Communication
- Interface with all on-site work teams (including subcontractors), as required, to resolve problems, and to ensure quality and safety.
- Strong Communication with Employees, Inspectors, Customers, Project Managers and Owners.
Scope of Work
- Supervise construction efforts to ensure projects are constructed according to specifications, within budget, on schedule, with the appropriate personnel and equipment while ensuring the safety of the workforce and the public.
- Supervise crews to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork and pride.
- Take initiative and anticipate what needs to be done.

Operation of Construction Equipment
- Will operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Dig dirt using shovels and machinery.
- Assist with manual labor when needed.
Equipment
- Ensure equipment and supplies are in place (including maintenance).
- Regularly communicate with Shop Manager about repair and maintenance needs on all major pieces of equipment on assigned jobs.
- Help maintain equipment by keeping it clean and in proper working order. Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to Shop Manager and Project Manager immediately.
Safety
- Practice safety at all times including driving of company vehicles or use of equipment. Use PPE while on jobsite e.g. hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, high visibility vest, steel toe boots, pants, and gloves.
- Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bringing problems to the attention of the Project Manager and Safety Director.
Administrative Duties:
- Read plans and specifications.
- Read grades, lift and carry objects & materials of various weights.
- Interpret and adhere to local codes.
- Communicate verbal / written correspondence.
- Document daily activities including job hazard forms, weekly toolbox talks, and equipment time reporting etc.
- Review and verify employee time and approve daily. Ensure that hours are assigned properly.
Qualifications:
- Valid license.
- Clean driving record.
- 3 years or more of successful construction management experience.
- Able to operate all types of excavation equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
- Strong mathematical abilities - Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.
- Strong work ethic.
- Demonstrate positive attitude.
- Ability to communicate and articulate with all related individuals within the team.
- Ability and willingness to learn and understand your role on the team.

As a Heavy Equipment Operator you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner. Heavy equipment may include trucks, excavators, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors and other pieces of equipment. You will work in a team environment, and your role will include operating and maintaining equipment, communicating with the site crew, and ensuring that all work is conducted safely and efficiently.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Previous experience as an operator required with the ability to demonstrate skill in operating: excavator, loader and dozer.
- Job sites to consist of both public and private projects.
- Observe and understand hand signals, markings, and/or grade stakes while operating equipment.
- Inspect and maintain equipment daily. Help maintain equipment by keeping it clean and in proper working order. Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to foreman immediately.
- Work on a range of projects from mass excavation/grading, commercial site preparation, installation of road systems, land clearing, reservoirs, athletic fields, vineyards and wineries, public work, single and multi-family housing developments, and more.
- Properly following all company, job site, DOT, OSHA, and MiOSHA safety rules.
- Support foremen and site superintendents on an as-needed basis.
- Perform a range of additional activities and tasks on the job sites when necessary.
- Assist with manual labor on the ground.
- Will operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Dig dirt using shovels and machinery.
- Maintain a clean jobsite.
Qualifications:
- Experience of heavy equipment operation required with the ability to demonstrate skill in operating: excavator, loader and dozer.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record - CDL License is a plus.
- Ability to accept instruction, work within a tight-knit team, remain focused, and deliver results in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to communicate and articulate with all related individuals within the team of work.
- Ability and willingness to learn and understand your role on the team.
- General knowledge of excavation work, including materials, means and methods, and equipment/tools utilized in the process.
- Knowledge and understanding of grades, elevations and reading plans.
- Mechanical -- Knowledge of equipment, machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to follow all company, job site, DOT, OSHA, and MiOSHA safety rules.
- Strong work ethic and punctuality.
- Demonstrate positive attitude.
